Poutine, 5 miles and sunshine

How was everyone's weekend? We headed out to the mountains with some friends for the Banff Winterstart 5 miler.  It's the kick-off to their winter festival and we had so much fun doing the run.  The run doesn't start until 7pm and they encourage you to wear anything that is reflective or has lights on it!

Friday first stop was Canmore for lunch at La Belle Patate

Poutine, smoked meat sandwich and a "steamie"

On the way out

Saturday we just relaxed and wandered around a bit.  The race was at 7pm so we didn't want to do too much.  Lunch was at an amazing vegetarian place called Nourish. We had nachos that I couldn't even begin to tell you what was all on them.  The menu claims there is 27 different items on it - everything from dill pickles to strawberries.

The race was so much fun even with the rain that started part way through! It was different racing at night especially since the majority of the course didn't have any lights but lots of people had headlamps and some people even had battery operated Christmas lights wrapped around them!
Sorry for the blurry picture! It was SO steamy where they had the after race "refreshments"

Sunday we came home and just hung out.  I am so happy that the sun was out this weekend (after almost 2 weeks of foggy weather)!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend :)

  1. Looks like a gorgeous weekend in the mountains! I've never heard of that place in Canmore...was it good?

  2. Wow! That looks like a lot of fun! I think it's pretty cool that it was a night race. I've actually never done a night race, so I think it's pretty cool that it was later in the evening.

  3. What a fun run!! I LOVE poutine!!!! yum! Great eats!!

  4. Gorgeous mountain view! We lived in that area for a summer and the view never got old! Those nachos sound so interesting!

  5. Congrats on Winterstart!! I was out there too! I've never heard of that place in Canmore, but the poutine sure looks delicious. Looks like we'll have to head out there soon to give it a try!
