Weekend Update

I am so so behind on my blogging that it's not even funny anymore! Between work, some personal things, trying to get ready for Christmas and then having a terrible cold this last little while I haven't had time for very much.

However this last weekend was full of fun things......

Friday I sent this guy off to his boys Christmas Party while I did some Christmas shopping and had a quiet night at home until I had to go pick him up.
I think he looks like a creepy used car salesman here...... Ha ha

Then Saturday I had a girls wine night - more specifically a $9.99 Cheap Ass Wine night. Everyone brings two bottles of a wine that are $9.99 (or less) and one of the bottles gets wrapped up in brown paper and other bottle just gets put to the side. Then everyone "tastes" each bottle and votes for their favourite. The winner takes home all of the second bottles - so for our night there was 11 of us and the winner took home 11 bottles! It's the second time we have done it and its always so much fun. And no one brought the same thing!

All of the wine wrapped up (we forgot the brown paper)

After - we just usually drink what's left of the open bottles

Winner

Wine may have turned into shooters at one point
Sunday was a pretty low key day. We were supposed to go to another Christmas party but decided to stay home instead. I made White Chocolate Cookie Butter brownies and then we decorated for Christmas and made a gingerbread house. Which by the way I have never made one before - they are a lot of work!

New ice cream I discovered the other day! So delicious!

Have you ever made a gingerbread house? Did you think it was a lot of work?

These are my confessions V16

Link up with Leigh's confession's post........

I confess..... I am super excited for the next twilight movie! It comes out this week and I can't wait to see it.  The books and then movies were totally a guilty pleasure of mine.

Did you read the books? Watch the movie's?

Markets, soup and snow

How was every one's weekend?

We had a fairly quiet weekend and since it was three days I took advantage of catching up on my sleep.

Friday night I went out with a friend after supper for what was supposed to be one drink....... let's just say it ended up being a few more than one. I think it was close to 2am when I got home.

Saturday I was a little slow moving so I skipped my workout (in hindsight I should have just done it) and then we braved the cold and went out to the Millarville Christmas market.  It is one of my favourite things to go to and is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. After that we came home and watched movies.

Sunday/Monday we didn't really do much. I did some of my volunteer work and we made french onion soup (which was a huge job!).

Fire pits at the market

All of these onions turned into...

How was your weekend?
Do you go workout after a late night and a few beverages? Does it make you feel better?

These are my confessions V15

Link up with Leigh's confession's post........

I confess.... that I am pretty sure I am 80 years old sometimes! I need to be asleep by 10pm at the latest during the week (so not exciting I know). Sometimes I am ready to go to bed even earlier!  We get up at 5:30am and going to sleep any later just doesn't work for me. I am not one of those people that can go on 5 hours a night - I can do that for one maybe two nights then that's it. I get so so cranky when I am tired.

If I don't get enough sleep

What about you? Lots of sleep? A little?

Poutine, 5 miles and sunshine

How was everyone's weekend? We headed out to the mountains with some friends for the Banff Winterstart 5 miler.  It's the kick-off to their winter festival and we had so much fun doing the run.  The run doesn't start until 7pm and they encourage you to wear anything that is reflective or has lights on it!

Friday first stop was Canmore for lunch at La Belle Patate

Poutine, smoked meat sandwich and a "steamie"

On the way out

Saturday we just relaxed and wandered around a bit.  The race was at 7pm so we didn't want to do too much.  Lunch was at an amazing vegetarian place called Nourish. We had nachos that I couldn't even begin to tell you what was all on them.  The menu claims there is 27 different items on it - everything from dill pickles to strawberries.

The race was so much fun even with the rain that started part way through! It was different racing at night especially since the majority of the course didn't have any lights but lots of people had headlamps and some people even had battery operated Christmas lights wrapped around them!

Sorry for the blurry picture! It was SO steamy where they had the after race "refreshments"

Sunday we came home and just hung out.  I am so happy that the sun was out this weekend (after almost 2 weeks of foggy weather)!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend :)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Today's post is kind of a confessions post.

I confess..... I don't really like Halloween. I love the candy and seeing all the little kids so excited/dressed up but I don't enjoy dressing up at all! I don't mind carving pumpkins either but I don't decorate the house/yard or anything.

We have good friends who always have a Halloween party so usually I have to dress up and go out. However this year they were on vacation so they couldn't have their party..... I was terrible upset :)

Last year's costume - 80's themed

What about you? Do you like Halloween? Did you go out this year?

Chilly Weekend

This last weekend here was chilly but the sun eventually came out on Sunday. I don't think we had seen it for a week! We didn't have too much planned and the weekend ended up being a great mix of catching up on sleep, eating (way too much), a couple runs and a round of Insanity.

Friday night we went out for supper after work since neither of us felt like cooking. We came home and did nothing!

Saturday we bundled up and headed out to Feast in the East - there was 15 food trucks from around the city there.  It was chilly but nice since there was NO line ups. Usually there is so many people at these events that the line ups are crazy!

Perogies: Regular and Carrot Cake

We had grilled cheese from here that had onions and dill pickles!

Hot Chocolate with homemade marshmallows

Then on Saturday night we drank wine and carved pumpkins

Finished product!

And of course pumpkin seeds :)

Sunday we got up and went for a run then headed out for lunch.

In the afternoon I attempted to make a gluten free and healthier version of chocolate mug cake. This one only had 4 ingredients in it and seemed to be fairly easy to make. I have found previous versions (non-gluten free) didn't turn out great.  They never seemed to taste quite right. However we actually really enjoyed it! I think it was the banana.
