Friends

The other night I was at home doing my Christmas cards and I came across the one for one of my close girlfriends and I was struggling what to write in it. This last year was a challenging one for me in a lot of ways and she was there for me through everything – always supportive, caring and never ever judging. Always allowing me to vent if I needed and listening when I would go on and on about a few things that I am sure she was ready to stop hearing about. This is where I was stumped…… how do you tell someone how much they really mean to you? Or thank them for everything they did for you? And say it so they truly know how you feel, how appreciated it was and how much their support really helped you through. How to say it without saying too much and over doing it.

I went on the internet to find some kind of inspiration and found a few cute little friendship quotes I thought I would share.

Weekend recap

Friday we had potluck at work so I made perogies.  Appetizer type foods re one of my favourite and could eat plates of them (which by the way I actually did).

Saturday I helped with a Kid’s Christmas Party at our community association. I volunteer as treasurer and even though we don’t have any kids these events are tons of fun.  There was three “waves” of kids that were there for 2 hours each time. We made picture frames, decorated cookies, mode tree ornaments and of course photo’s with Santa!! Between kids eating paint and being terrified of Santa it was an interesting afternoon. My hot yoga session was much needed after this!! Ha ha

Then it was off to the Flames game. Mr. H is fortunate enough to be able to get tickets through work sometimes and I especially like it when he takes me instead of making it a “boys” night!

Pocketdogs & draft beer!!

Sunday we woke up to a pile of snow.  Mr. H shoveled several times throughout the day. We had plans to go to brunch for one of my best friend’s birthdays.  I LOVE brunch – nothing like waffles with whip cream and strawberries to start your day off right! After I let that digested I went to another hot yoga session.  That night we wrapped gifts and hung out on the couch.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends!

Fashion Friday

I thought I would try something new for me  "Fashion Friday's". I love fashion and definitely have a LONG list of items I would love to have in my closet so I thought I would share some of those things with you!

My love of shoes goes way back but really took off when I treated myself to these beauties for my wedding.  I have worn them several times since then and they are probably some of the most comfortable dress shoes I own.  I wore them our entire wedding day and my feet didn't hurt at all. Big score there.

And it has only gotten worse from there.....

I have been lusting after a pair of Christian Louboutin's for a LONG time now.  I have had my eye on these one's. I am trying to convince Mr. H that these would be a great addition to my wardrobe from BOTH work and play. I haven't been successful yet!!
I have been on the hunt for some tall brown boots and these ones from Steve Madden look like they would be a perfect fit. They are casual but I can still dress them up and would be great with my skinny jeans and leggings.

I found these the other day while browsing the Anthropologie site and was instantly in love. They are different than anything else I own but I have visions of what I could pair them with already! I end up wearing a lot of neutral colors to work but think the blue of these would be fun.

Enjoy your weekend!

Books

I have been struggling a bit lately regarding my reading material. I used to belong to a book club but don’t anymore and I find I have a hard time finding new books to read.  I picked up these two from Costco the other day:

1. A Secret Kept by Tatiana De Rosnay.

I read her other book - Sarah’s Key - and loved it so I am hoping that this one is just as good. I think the author was able to bring such power to the characters and events that it made a historical fiction book come to life.

2. My week with Marilyn by Colin Clark

I find Marilyn Munroe a fascinating.  She left such a legacy after her death as one of the most recognizable movie stars in history.  I think everyone knows who she is without having ever seen one of her movies.

Has anyone done any online book clubs? Thoughts? Anyone have any reading suggestions?

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!

This weekend was super busy! It was my Friday off so I ran some errands, got my hair cut, went for sushi and did some Christmas shopping!! Then Friday night I baked 160 Triple Ginger cookies for a cookie exchange I was going to on Saturday.

On Saturday I went and checked out the new hot yoga studio opening down by where we live. Soul Hot Yoga. http://soulhotyoga.com/  The place is amazing.  I am super excited for it to open as it is close to home and offers a variety of warm and hot yoga classes.

Sunday we went to the Meow Foundation Christmas Party to drop off some donations we had for them.  I have a huge soft spot for animals. Then home to put up our Christmas decorations.

Enjoy your week!!

Three Things Thursday

  1. I am super excited to decorate for Christmas this weekend. Partly because we always watch the movie Elf while doing it and I absolutely love this movie.

  1. My workouts have severely lacked lately. Between Christmas parties, Christmas shopping and just generally being unmotivated I haven’t done anything since last Thursday. I really need to get my butt in gear as we will be sitting on a beach in Mexico in 15 DAYS!!

  1. I have seriously gotten into the series Revenge.  Does anyone else watch this? I downloaded the episodes onto my Ipad and watched them when we were driving back and forth to Victoria. I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not but I am in love with it so far!
